Feedback from Final Video

Here is some feedback from other students, teachers and other random people...

Genre and use of conventions>
Effective use of genre, everything links well. Narrative matches with lyrics and conventions. The song and footage works with the typical music video conventions, but at the same time it is very unique.

Mise en scene>

Location and street lighting, as well as hand held torches work well. The scene is in touch with the genre and the lyrics. It gives a very urban look to the video, and it is shot at night. This highlights the start of the weekend and fits well. The costume and "style" of the band is appropriate, as is the outfits of the crowd scenes.

Performance and lipsyncing>

The lipsyncing is excellent, that and the imitation of playing the instruments looks real. There is an amplified link between between lyrics and the visuals. The band perform really professionally too.

Camerawork>

There is a variety of camerawork, appropriate to the genre. There are some mixed up shots, some close ups and long shots, thrown in between various interesting and stylized camerawork. It really keeps the viewer interested. There are lots of hand held and panning shots, which give a rough jumpier edge to the footage. The CCTV clip was really effective too, lots of people mentioned it to me. It gave the impression that we were not supposed to be there, as it if was illegal.

Editing>

Fast paced cuts and a different style of editing went down well with the audience. It made the video look rough, chaotic and unpredictable, almost like the scenario that the group of youth people are in. The variety of transitions really split up the video and give The exit sign that flashes on the screen during the video, was good use of final cut, and very individual.
