Pitch
The first thing we notice about this song is the almost schizophrenic difference between the chorus and the verse. The song swaps between being sung in an aggressive, group of thug like, style and a more melodic, upbeat, organized fashion.
We intend to capitalize on this and split the video into two separate narratives following two different groups. For the more aggressive parts of the song, a group of 'ruffians' will be showing being violent and and disorderly. Juxtaposed by a second group of more causal and friendly mates having a good time who are shown when the song takes on its happier tone.
The video will split between the two groups throughout the different parts of the song as they progress through their days. Such as when the ruffians are walking down the streets and abusing passers by. Being that "Its the weekend" is the most predominant lyric, the setting of this song will be on the typical friday/saturday night out.
Nearer the end of the song, shots will be mirrored between the two groups. For example; as one of the mates passes a beer to the other, the shot would cut to a fist replacing the beer as one of the ruffians hits another person or as a ruffian throws a beer towards a wall, a pillow hits one of the mates in the face.
To make the video more interesting, we will use fast and slow motion in between lyrics so that people can do surreal (awesome) things. Such as right after a line in the chorus, one of the ruffians rapidly moves right up to the camera to show how threatening they are.
Throughout the beginning of the song, small clips of a band performing will be shown until end/breakdown in the song when they are the main focus. The band will be performing in an abandoned/worn down establishment to fit the instrumental aesthetic of the song.
The two groups will be shown with the band by the end of the song either having a good time (or being violent).
